Purpose Of The Roles

The System Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and optimization of the company’s IT systems, networks, and hardware infrastructure. The role involves ensuring the continuous, secure, and reliable operation of technology systems and providing technical leadership to the IT team.

Main Accountabilities

1. System Administration
  • Manage, configure, and monitor servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure.
  • Oversee system performance, ensuring maximum uptime and system availability.
  • Administer operating systems, databases, and enterprise applications.
  • Perform routine audits of systems and software.
2. Security Management
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect IT infrastructure, systems, and data.
  • Monitor networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions.
  • Manage firewalls, anti-virus protection, and data encryption tools.
  • Develop and maintain IT security policies and disaster recovery plans.
3. Team Management
  • Lead a team of system administrators, network engineers, and IT support staff.
  • Delegate tasks, provide technical support, and foster professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand IT needs and provide suitable solutions.
  • Ensure timely completion of IT projects and upgrades.
4. System Maintenance and Support
  • Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly.
  • Manage backup systems, ensuring data integrity and recovery procedures.
  • Ensure systems are documented, and maintain accurate records of configurations and issues.
5. Vendor and Budget Management
  • Work with vendors to procure IT hardware, software, and services.
  • Manage IT budgets and optimize resource allocation.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with service providers.
  • Ensure licensing compliance for all software and systems.
6. Project Management
  • Plan and manage IT infrastructure projects such as system migrations, upgrades, and implementations.
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with new projects and technologies.
7. Performance Monitoring and Optimization
  • Monitor system performance metrics and optimize systems for efficiency.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement proactive measures to enhance system performance.
  • Automate routine tasks to improve productivity.
8. Compliance and Auditing
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Prepare and submit audit reports for IT systems as required.
  • Implement changes based on audit findings to enhance system security and performance.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  2. Proven experience in system administration or IT management.
  3. Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, networks, databases, cloud technologies).
  4. Proficiency in system monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  5. Hands-on experience with network administration, virtualization, and cloud computing.
  6. Strong understanding of security protocols and best practices.
  7. Leadership and project management skills.
  8. Hands-on experience with security systems: firewalls, intrusion detection, antivirus, authentication, log management, content filtering.
  9. Expertise in network security and monitoring tools.
  10. Understanding of security principles, techniques, protocols.
  11. Familiarity with web technologies and network/web protocols.
  12. Continuous learning in networking, security techniques, firewalls, VPN, DNS.
  13. Knowledge of information security, evaluation, policies, cloud security, security audits.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCSE, or similar.
  2. Experience with enterprise-level applications and systems (e.g., ERP, CRM).
  3. Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and automation tools.

Working Conditions:

  1. Full-time position.
  2. On-call availability: for system emergencies.
  3. Potential for after-hours work: during system maintenance or outages.
